PROJECT NR.6

INNERMOVEMENT       2025

Innermovement is a therapeutic object designed for use in the practice of my professional partner, Ingrid Dullens. She is a drama therapist who primarily works with children with autism. Using a method that allows children to express their emotions through body movement, she helps them learn to communicate their feelings—something that is often difficult for them to express verbally.

This object allows the user to sit inside it and move it using their body, specifically in a forward and backward motion. These directions are linked to emotions: forward represents anger, while backward represents fear. The object can also remain still when placed on one of its sides, offering a neutral state.

Colored elements can be added to either side of the object to bring more nuance to the conversation. Ingrid already uses this color code in her sessions:

  • White = neutral

  • Green = good

  • Orange = average

  • Red = bad

By adding or removing these color elements, the emotional conversation gains more clarity and depth. The hollows where the colors are placed give the object a light and transparent quality when open, making the object feel—both literally and metaphorically—less heavy.
